So the knife I got has a different look than the one in the product description and that is why I have posted. It's not the traditional Old Timer shield but a new design. I think it looks pretty nice but definitely different than described. Seems like this version comes pretty close to the original quality of the old made in USA classics. Fit is actually pretty good. The knife has a nice weight and feel, comes pretty sharp and looks well ground. It opens and closes with decent precision and I look forward to carrying it. I really like this pattern and have 2 other Uncle Henry 124UH equivalents that are the old made in USA classics. Compared to these, the Old Timer is just a bit shorter overall even though the blade is the same length. The handle edges are less polished but who knows how the Uncle Henry's were when new. This is a really nice knife for 20 bucks and change.
Always have it with me.
The media could not be loaded. The knife came in with the badge removed and some light rust on the handle. However, nothing a little E6000 and WD40 can’t fix! After polishing it up and sharpening the blade, this knife is sharp enough to gently remove the hair off of my arm (a weird measurement, but pretty effective!). The blade is a little clumsy to lock and unlock, but I’m sure that will resolve with use. I’ve always been loyal to Schrade blades and they rarely disappoint. This knife will make an excellent daily carry for the price point.
OK so this review is being written with the resultant glazed eyes from the just-opened newness of a truly beautiful product:Yes it's large and yet just the right size.It opens easily and soundly snaps into the fully opened position. (don't even need the thumb nail, just grab the blade and snap it open and it wants to stay open)The picture doesn't do it justice. The knife is simply beautiful and everything about it shouts quality.The blade is paper-cutting sharp!I'll be playing with and using this pocket knife regularly.Easily recommend this pocket knife to anyone! (While my wife is not a pocket-knife person, she thoroughly admired this one.}
Nice and sharp out of the box and good for daily use
Arrived almost sharp enough to cut butter! A little rough opening but will wear in. I like the design and the price was right. I’ll sharpen it and keep it til one of the kids gets off with it!
Exactly as described
True old timer. Sharp as a razor out of the box and works perfect every time. Great fit in your hand.
Hi everybody. When I ordered this knife I thought it was a slightly smaller version of the Mustang. I want to inform you in this review that it is a lot smaller! It included a leather lace to put through the hole in the rear bolster. It is a great size for a standard pocketknife, on the generous side compared to a peanut or even a stockman. it does not lock like the even smaller Old Timer slimline Trapper with the brass tab to ''hold it open''. I would also like to inform you that unlike other old timers it had a main pin in the front bolster that the blade turns on which is made from a different material than the bolsters so you can see it even though it is flush and polished. I will answer questions about Old Timer knives as I go on looking at them and collecting samples of them. The best and a very good knife if you want an Old Timer is the Mustang which is very large and is My favorite from Taylor Brands. Get two of those Mustangs!
My husband was looking for a gentlemen’s knife for my son in law. We are very impressed with the quality and value of this knife!
