So I opened the box and the knife that I got out was a lock blade with a black handle. I ordered the green wood handle so I was a bit confused. There was a second lock blade in the box that had the green handle. It was very nice, the handle was free of sharp edges and nicely polished. The green handle doesn't look like wood or feel like wood but it's spectacular in feel and appearance. The knife sharpener has a brass handle that is very short and it's difficult to get a good grip on it. I'm not sure how useful it will prove to be as a sharpener for the 2 knives. I prefer the ceramic stick type sharpener that forms a "V" between the ceramic rods. A few licks on that type of sharpener usually is all that's necessary to touch up a dull blade. The green knife is a bit larger of the 2 knives, and has the Damascus steel blade. A very nice knife and well worth the price. The sheath has a place for the sharpener to be stored securely and that's a nice touch. It seems well made, and good quality. I would definitely purchase again from this company.
I bought this setup for my son. We are knife collectors so any knife is a good knife. On Christmas morning, he opened his and then I opened one my wife bought for me. Love the craftsmanship, the Damascus blades have a very nice Damascus pattern. The handles look nice and the knife holds well. Good addition to our collections.
Bought for my brother in law for Christmas who is an outdoorsman. He absolutely loves it and has it on him everytime I see him. Beautifully handmade using quality materials. I also love supporting American family businesses. Definitely recommend 10/10
The knives are nice, the bigger one is real tight in sheath. Maybe after some use it will loosen up. The smaller knife is very difficult to open and close even after putting a little oil on it.
This is a beautiful knifeI would refer your knives to my friends
TL;DR: The knife is worth the money, I would recommend it.Long version: I got the item today, and the first thing I want to say is, it was bigger than I initially imagined it. (Which is good btw, don't get me wrong). The weight, the feel of the blade, the look, everything is good. I don't feel like I wasted any money. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 Star rating is because of the following reasons:1. The blade isn't sharp enough. It's decently sharp, but not quite flawless.- now while I know that I just need to sharpen it with a Whetstone or a sharpener, I would have expected it to be sharper than how I received it.2. The sharpener that came with it, is rather ineffective.- The design is basically just like a pillar you'd see at a Greek god temple, (or something like that), you know, straight cylindrical with straight groove markings, instead of a diamond pattern which is more effective.3. The leather pouch is too tight and have to be broken in before being able to use it effectively.- not complaining about this too much, but It's just too tight like a shoe half a size smaller.4. I'm not entirely convinced that the blade is forged 100% Damascus style.- I've had a Damascus blade before I lost it somewhere. And there is one thing I noticed. The sharpened part of the blade had visible patterns. This one initially does not, out of the box. Perhaps it's the way they sharpened it, as they sharpened it straight down, instead of going along the blade (which is how the wave lines appear after sharpening). So I'll have to find out after I sharpen it on a 6000 grit Whetstone or something. It definitely looks like Damascus from the outside.5. The blade is dirty.- now keep this is mind. The blade is coated in protective oil, and that's perfectly fine. It means they know how to take care of a blade. What I'm talking about is the black residue left over on the parts of the blade, like the same black thing you'd get on your hands after touching the chains of a used bicycle. Except in a small pile of it in places of the knife. It takes some time to clean those out, as they stain things very easily, including the stag horn handle. This one is my biggest complaint. This is my reason why this product got 4.5 Stars from me and didn't get the full 5 Stars.Other than that, the blade seems amazing, and I can't seem to find any other flaws. I have yet to test anything else regarding what the blade can take, but so far, it's definitely worth the buy for me!P.S. excuse any spelling errors. Save me from the Grammar Nazi's.This is my review of this product, thanks Best.Buy.Damascus1 (Idk how to tag you >_<)
Bought as a gift for my guy and he was very pleased with it. I like the color and style. And hoped he had a watch to go with it as he dose his other knives.
So... its a pretty darn good handmade knife. With all that entails. Its sturdy, has a good heft to it, came covered in oil (a good thing, not a compliant) and is sharp. Its an attractive knife and I like the construction (I make knives as a hobby but not locking ones like this) which has 5 pins and a lanyard hole. That's the good. Here's the bad. It IS handmade. It has flaws and ones I think they could have eliminated. The brass/wood line on both sides has a slight bend in it (grinder flaw? Its in roughly the same location both sides) and detracts from the look of the knife and on one side, you can feel the transition from wood to brass... that will lead to wear over time and could lead the the wood eroding away over time. The lanyard hole could have had a steel or brass tube in it, instead its just a hole in the wood. A lanyard, if you use one, could wear away at the wood, again detracting form the look. My final annoyance with the knife is that as I was opening it once, it seemed to catch and wouldn't go any farther open; I closed it without any effort and it opened cleanly afterwards and since, but I gotta wonder what caused it and if it will happen again. The last flaw isn't with the knife itself and isn't that big of a deal, but here goes... the case to attach to your belt is stiff leather and extremely tight. I was never planning on using it but I couldn't get the knife in there and back out with one hand or snap it close with one hand.Without those flaws this is a 4-5 star knife. With them, its a strain to call it a 3.
Establishing tradition from a father to his son is important. Something as simple as buying a quality pocket knife has more meaning than one can know. This past Christmas, after searching for a quality American made knife as my goal, I purchased two Damascus1 pocket knives. My search provided me confidence that I found the perfect handmade product. I believe Damascus has men and women committed to the craft of making the perfect product. When I presented my son’s knife to him, he was full of joy. The tradition we established shall endure, and one day my Damascus1 knife will be presented to my first born grandson. Thank you!
Well made my fiance loved it
