Very cool knife very sharp it comes with a very nice case it is a fixed blade so it does not close but the case is very good it clips onto your belt. The shape is very a cool design too. It is very easy to handle it fits very good in my hand.

The media could not be loaded. This has been the most reliable, sharpness edged, that can be sharpened over and over and always comes true, Blade I've ever owned!! I had one growing up and had lost everything I owned in a hurricane a year ago!I have missed that knife, so I ordered a brand new one and can safely say, I hopefully will have it for the next 20 years!!If your ever at a yard sale and find these Old Timer Cutlery knives, BUY THEM!! They make all sorts of kitchen knives and much more hunting knives!! I'd definitely rate them at a 10 if I could!!

I bought this knife in hopes of replacing a Buck knife which I used for over 30 years before it mysteriously disappeared. I used the Buck for camp chores while backpacking and canoeing. It was small enough to be useful preparing meals, cleaning small fish, and the like, and just large enough to clean large fish and to serve as a serious weapon in case of attack from animals.I bought the Schrade Sharpfinger on the basis of its online description, without seeing it. It seems a good knife and an excellent value, but it is too small to replace the Buck. In particular, the handle is too small for my hands. (I am a normal-sized man.) It might fit a small woman or child well. I think it would be hard to clean a fish larger than a brook trout with it, though I haven't yet tried. The fact that I can't get a firm grip on the small handle would make it less effective as a weapon. The blade comes almost razor sharp, sharper than I was ever able to get the Buck. So far I've only used it around the kitchen, but it cuts through meat like butter. I don't know how well it will hold an edge under hard use like cutting bone, but I have yet to have to sharpen it. (The Buck, though not as sharp, held its edge outstandingly under heavy use.)The tang extends the entire length of the handle, which is secured to it with sturdy rivets. I would be surprised if you could break the knife or handle in normal use. I would expect it to last a lifetime. The knife itself seems of excellent quality. The sheath, though adequate, seems more cheaply made, definitely inferior to the Buck's sturdy sheath. I won't be surprised if it falls apart in a few years. That is a consideration because the knife has an unusually shaped blade which might not fit a generic sheath, and a knife like this is almost useless in the wilderness without a sheath.I don't regret buying the knife even though it turned out not to be an adequate replacement for the Buck. At its price, I think it is an excellent value.

Quick Summary: It's an "everyday task" knife that can handle delicate slicing tasks without being clumsy or oversized.More Detailed Observations and Opinions:The little Sharpfinger has really impressed me, especially considering the price. As much as I wish it were still made in the USA, even at a higher price, the current Sharpfinger is definitely worth consideration.Mine arrived in a very presentable "Oldtimer" box marked "Taylor Brands LLC" which, from what I understand, purchased the Schrade and Sharpfinger trademarks after the original company went defunct in the 2000s, and moved production to China.Steel is 7Cr17 (similar to 440A by many accounts) in a full-tang modified skinner style with a satin finish. Handle scales are of a hard plastic resin. Sheath is leather, single stitched, with a snap closure and, to my delight, is perfectly serviceable.Out of the box impressions:- Watch them fingers! It easily shaved arm hair and sliced thin paper cleanly.- It's a handy size.- It looks very... good... for such an inexpensive knife. She's a beaut, actually.- The included leather(!) belt sheath is completely functional and should hold up well with appropriate care.- The grip was broader than I expected at 3/4" wide. The more I use this knife, the more I realize a few things:- It cuts a lot better than most of its size class, due to the blade's upsweep.- The blade material is decent, but I would love to see the manufacturer improve on this. I can't quite get it "astonishingly sharp" and it holds a working edge just long enough to get my nod of approval.- It's low-key for a fixed blade. It looks like something grandpa may have passed down and is unlikely to get you hassled by the authorities as long as you mind your own business*.- The upswept tip gives very good point control for detailed tasks and is too fragile even occasional prying tasks.- If you're into customizing, a few fileworked notches would go a long way to add traction on the thumb-rest.- The handle is not awe-inspiring, but it is a classic model from before high-traction polymers and ergonomic everything. I can live with it.- The handle material doesn't provide much traction when wet, and making use of the included lanyard hole aids in retention.- While this knife is not designed to be a weapon, it requires safe handling and respect. This is a very sharp, very pointy tool that could send someone to the hospital in a hurry. Definitely keep this knife sheathed and out of reach if you have small children, pets, or that lovable but none-too-bright friend around. The Sharpfinger strikes me as useful for the following types of applications:Snack prep, Mess kit, Fishing, Small Game, Large Game (caping), Lawn Chores, Picnics, Gardening, Foraging, Whittling, Light Tinkering, etc.I have been collecting and carrying knives for 20 years. I am happy with this purchase and intend to buy more of these as gifts. This is a very strong value when considering the blade's above-average edge retention, slicing geometry, classic design, presentable box, and useable leather sheath.I purchased this knife for myself and am not being compensated.I really hope they introduce this style in a 1095 carbon steel version!* Always check local laws before carrying or traveling with a knife. Knife laws can vary from city to city and violations often carry harsh penalties including jail time.

  • A Real Review

I have many knives and sometimes buy less expensive ones to use around the place. This knife is really nice, and I was very impressed with it. The craftmanship is pretty much flawless, and fit and finish are very nice. The most impressive was the leather scabbard that comes with it: excellent stitching and quality of leather. I am very impressed, in fact I bought a second one. What's the downside? As with many inexpensive knives, the quality of steel is not premium - who would expect that at this price? But this means you will have to sharpen it a little more often than those $200+ jobs. Out of having and using maybe 50 knives, I can say you won't be disappointed with this one.

Really love the design and handle on this little knife! Came very sharp and nice point and the sheath is nice except the latch part needs to be a little higher cause it won’t snap. I’ll just cut the slits a little longer. Had one in 80 and loved it but got stolen. Didn’t take the sheath though. I think that one had a sawn bone handle and this one is plastic. They do have one made in the USA but it’s 60 bucks! This design is great for skinning and for fileting! Love it

Perfect size for carrying on my belt. I have had this knife before it was my first real knife bought for me when I turned 16. I am now over 50 and they still make same knife been tested over time. A knife that has been on the market this long obviously is something people like including me.
